NDLEA Seizes ₦2.8bn Illicit Drugs in Jigawa

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Jigawa State Command, has seized illicit drugs valued at ₦2.8 billion in the state, as part of intensified anti-narcotics operations carried out in 2025.

The command disclosed that a total of 1,944 kilograms of illicit substances were confiscated during various raids, stop-and-search operations, and intelligence-led investigations across the state. The seized drugs included cannabis, psychotropic substances, and other prohibited narcotics.

According to the NDLEA, the sustained enforcement efforts also led to the conviction of 136 drug peddlers within the period under review. The command attributed the successes to effective collaboration with other security agencies, community stakeholders, and the judiciary.

The Jigawa NDLEA Command stressed that the fight against drug abuse and trafficking remains a top priority, noting that drug-related crimes pose serious threats to public health and security. It reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying surveillance, arrests, and prosecution of offenders.

The agency also urged residents to support its operations by providing timely and credible information, while continuing advocacy and sensitisation programmes to discourage drug abuse, especially among youths.

NDLEA said it will not relent in its mandate to rid Jigawa State and the country at large of illicit drugs and their harmful effects.
