Turkey Seeks Inclusion in Nigeria’s E-Visa System

Turkey has formally requested to be included in Nigeria’s electronic visa (e-visa) system, a move aimed at easing travel procedures, boosting bilateral trade, and strengthening diplomatic and business ties between both countries.

The request was made to address longstanding logistical challenges faced by Turkish nationals seeking Nigerian visas, particularly delays and administrative bottlenecks associated with traditional visa processing. Inclusion in the e-visa platform would allow eligible travelers to apply online and receive approvals more efficiently.

Officials noted that improved visa access would enhance business activities, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, given the growing economic relationship between Nigeria and Turkey. Turkish companies are active in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, energy, and trade, while Nigeria remains a key partner in Africa.

Nigeria’s e-visa system was introduced to simplify entry procedures for foreign visitors, attract investment, and improve border management. While discussions are ongoing, no final decision has yet been announced on Turkey’s inclusion.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and resolving outstanding issues through diplomatic engagement, with the e-visa request seen as a step toward facilitating smoother travel and stronger economic collaboration.
