AFCON 2025: Four Super Eagles Players Risk Suspension Ahead of Uganda Clash

Abidjan — Four key players of the Super Eagles are walking a disciplinary tightrope ahead of Nigeria’s crucial Group C encounter against Uganda at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The players are one booking away from suspension after picking up yellow cards in Nigeria’s previous group matches, raising concerns for the technical crew as the Super Eagles prepare for their final group fixture.

According to competition rules, any player who accumulates two yellow cards in the group stage will be automatically suspended for the next match, a situation that could affect Nigeria’s squad strength if the affected players are cautioned against Uganda.

Although the coaching staff has not officially disclosed the names of the players involved, sources within the team confirmed that they are key members of the starting lineup, making the situation a major concern ahead of the decisive game.

The Super Eagles are currently pushing for a strong finish in Group C, with qualification to the knockout stage at stake. A win or draw against Uganda would boost Nigeria’s chances of advancing, but the team must also manage discipline carefully to avoid unnecessary suspensions.

Head coach and his technical crew are expected to advise the players to exercise caution during the encounter, especially in tackles and confrontations with match officials.
