AFCON 2025: FIFA mandates clubs to release players December 15
Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, has confirmed clubs can now release their players latest December 15 for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, SOCIETYWATCH reports.
FIFA’s decision will now ease concerns across European clubs, with majority of them set lose their players for the biennial competition.
Clubs were earlier expected to release invited players two weeks before the start of the competition.
However, after a fruitful deliberation between FIFA, CAF, and other major stakeholders, an agreement was reached to push the release date back by a week.
The agreement could, however, affect majority of the countries, who have set up friendly games ahead of the preparation.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles against Pharaohs of Egypt scheduled for Sunday, 14 December is now doubtful.
Morocco will host the competition from 21 December, 2025 to 18 January, 2025.
