Bandits kill two brothers, abduct many in Katsina communities

Bandits have invaded Doguwar Dorawa, a small farming community near Guga in Bakori local government area of Katsina State, killed two elders and abducted several residents.

A source told SOCIETY WATCH that the attack by the bandits took over an hour, raising questions on the peace accord reached between the state government and some armed groups operating in the state.

The bandits, according to the source, stormed the village around 10 p.m, killing the two brothers, Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo, both regarded as pillars of leadership and moral guidance in the community.

The attackers were said to have come on motorcycles, parked them in the bush, and walked into the village to avoid being noticed, saying that for more than an hour, they operated freely, killing, looting, and abducting people without any resistance.

The source believed, “the attackers are loyalists of Idi Abasu Aiki and Kwashen Garwa, two notorious bandit leaders operating in Bakori and nearby communities.

He said while Doguwar Dorawa were mourning the killings and abduction of their people, another community, Layin ‘Yannehu, was at the same time attacked, with the bandits rustling a large number of animals.

He added that similar incidents were recorded in Ganjar, Alhazawa, and Gidan Nagari in recent weeks, where over 40 people were abducted and several families displaced
