President Donald Trump of the United States has said it “sounds like” the US might impose fresh sanctions on Russia.
Trump said it could happen if President Vladimir Putin refuses to negotiate about ending the war in Ukraine.
Trump made this known on Monday, insisting that the Russian president “should make a deal … I think he’s destroying Russia by not making a deal”.
Russia is already under US’ heavy sanctions and Trump gave no details on possible additional sanctions.

Society watch reports that Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, on Tuesday said no fewer than 200,000 European peacekeepers would be needed to prevent a new Russian attack after any ceasefire deal.
Zelenskiy stated this at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland a day after Trump returned to power following months of promises to end the war in Ukraine quickly.
