FG, Governors To Decide, State Police Next Week
1 min readThe Federal Government and state governors are set to make a final decision on the creation of state police next week, following a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) in Abuja on Thursday.
Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri, disclosed that the NEC has given Adamawa, Kebbi, Kwara states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) one week—until November 28—to submit their positions on the proposal.
Governor Diri explained that while some states, including Adamawa, had already submitted their positions, others had failed to do so, leading to the one-week extension.

The ongoing discussions have seen backing from the House of Representatives, which has proposed a constitutional amendment for the establishment of state police.
