Tinubu Sacks PTAD Boss, Appoints New Executive Secretary

1 min read

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed Dr. Chioma Ejikeme as the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) and appointed Tolulope Odunaiya as her successor.

The announcement, made through a statement by PTAD’s Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, on Monday, comes just 13 months after Ejikeme was reappointed for another four-year term.

Odunaiya, who assumed office on November 18, 2024, will now oversee the directorate, which is responsible for the management of pensioners’ benefits across various sectors of Nigeria’s civil service.

The statement revealed that while Ejikeme had been reappointed in October 2023 for a second term, she was relieved of her duties by the president without prior indication of an impending shift.

This move comes amid ongoing scrutiny of pension administration and growing calls for reform in the public service sector.

In her first address to PTAD staff, Odunaiya emphasized her vision of fostering unity and collaboration within the directorate. “My vision is for a directorate where every individual feels recognised, empowered, and motivated to make meaningful contributions,” she said.

“I urge all of us to transcend personal interests and come together around our shared purpose: improving the lives of our pensioners, who have selflessly served this nation, often in challenging circumstances.”

The change in leadership has raised questions about the future direction of PTAD and its role in managing pension-related services for Nigeria’s civil servants.
