Why I resigned – NIA DG Breaks Silence

The Director General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar who tendered his resignation to President Tinubu on Saturday night has explained the reason for his resignation.

While explaining that it was a routine thing for him to brief the president from time to time, he tendered his resignation and ” the President graciously accepted it.

According to him, it is a rear opportunity to serve two presidents, adding that he would continue to be dedicated to the president and noble causes.

Speaking to NTA on Saturday night, he said, “There are so many reasons for doing this, some personal, and family but nothing serious actually. The friendship will continue.”.

He explained that he had opportunity to mentor younger officers, “We have a lot of officers who can do this job and do it excellently well.”
