Sokoto Deputy Governor Resigns
1 min readThe Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, has resigned, Daily Trust learnt from credible sources yesterday.
Ahmed is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. He is expected to contest against his former boss Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who is the likely flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the poll.
A source close to Tambuwal told Daily Trust that the deputy governor resigned voluntarily and “we will not hesitate to accept his resignation.”
Ahmed was said to have submitted a copy of his resignation to the state House of Assembly but it was not read on the floor of the house yesterday.
A member of the assembly confirmed the receipt of the resignation letter.
The spokesmen of Tambuwal and the erstwhile deputy governor could not be reached for comment at the time of filling this report last night.
