APC Targets N1.2bn Monthly From Members
1 min readThe All Progressives Congress is putting finishing touches to plans to raise an average of N1.2bn monthly from its 12 million registered members.
It was gathered in Abuja, on Thursday, that the party is finalising plans to enforce the collection of a N100 monthly due from each member as part of efforts to increase its revenue.
As part of the plan, the party is to liaise with a telecoms provider who will work with the party to deduct the sum from the mobile telephone members when they recharge their phones on a monthly basis.
Confirming this development, the party’s National Treasurer, Alhaji Ibrahim Gwagwarwa, explained that “a software has already been designed” to make this initiative a reality.
It was learnt that the party’s National Executive Committee had approved the initiative which was part of discussions at the last meeting held between the NWC and the governors on the party platform.
Gwagwarwa also said the party would look at the financial commitment of party members seeking to fly the party’s flag in considering those eligible to contest elective positions as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
He said, “The party would look at the financial record of anybody who wants anything from the party in the system and only those who make financial contributions to the party would be considered.”
The project has yet to take off because of logistics challenges.
