The Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday unveiled Nigeria’s First Baby of the Year 2026, born exactly at 12:00 midnight at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja.

The newborn, whose arrival marked the beginning of the new year, was presented to the First Lady during a brief ceremony held at the hospital, where she officially welcomed the baby on behalf of the Federal Government.

Speaking at the event, Senator Tinubu congratulated the parents and described the birth as a symbol of hope, renewal, and national unity as the country steps into the new year. She also presented the baby’s birth certificate, alongside gift items and cash support to the family.

The First Lady commended the medical staff of FMC Abuja for their professionalism and dedication, particularly for ensuring a safe delivery at such a significant moment.

This baby represents hope for the nation and the promise of a better tomorrow. I congratulate the parents and wish the child a bright and fulfilling future,” she said.

She further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving maternal and child healthcare services across the country, stressing the importance of safe delivery and proper postnatal care.

Hospital officials expressed gratitude to the First Lady for the visit and her continued support for the health sector.
