2026 Budget: Gov Buni tasks MDAs on fiscal discipline, accountability

Yobe State Government has commenced bilateral discussions for the 2026 budget, focusing on fiscal discipline, accountability, and timely implementation of people-oriented policies and programmes.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, urged all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to prioritize projects that align with the Yobe State 25-Year Development Plan.
The Governor stressed the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, warning that financial indiscipline, including off-budget expenditures or misclassification of funds, would not be tolerated.
Buni then declared the 2026 Budget Bilateral Discussions officially open, urging participants to work collaboratively towards producing a budget that drives growth, development, and prosperity across Yobe State.
The Yobe State Government had earlier convened a citizens and stakeholders’ engagement across its three senatorial zones to gather vital input for the forthcoming 2026 annual budget.
