The draw was enough to ensure Cameroon qualified for the semi-final of the competition as winners of Group A with seven points.
Mali have also reached the last four after twice coming from behind to beat Algeria 3-2 in Cape Coast.
The Black Queens went into the game knowing they had to win to guarantee their qualification from the group and they scored first in the 31st minute.
Portia Boakye’s free-kick from the left floated high into the area and goalkeeper Anette Ngo Ndom misjudged the flight of the ball which dropped behind her into an empty net.
But Cameroon equalised shortly before half-time when Aboudi Onguene was fouled running down the left wing for a blatant penalty.
Captain Christine Manie rolled the ball to the left with Asantewaa, who replaced previous first choice Patricia Mantey, diving the other way.
Failing to qualify from the group also means Ghana will not represent Africa at next year’s Women’s World Cup with the top three finishers in the tournament all qualifying for France 2019.
