Solskjaer Issues Warning To Harry Maguire

2 min read

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Leicester City’s Harry Maguire might not walk into his team.

He insisted that the players that have impressed him in pre-season still have big roles to play in the squad.

The England international is set to undergo a medical and complete an £80million move to Old Trafford after Leicester City finally agreed to sell.

He is expected to line up alongside Victor Lindelof in the heart of the defence, but the likes of Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe have given solid performances during United’s excellent pre-season campaign.

United have won all of their five matches.

The Red Devils manager said he has been planning his side without thinking about possible new arrivals, such as Maguire, and still expects his existing players to play a key part in the season ahead.

Asked how much the transfer window affects preparations, Solskjaer told the Press Association, “I don’t think that’s a problem. Of course, as a club, we’ve had targets and we’re working on a few cases, but as a coach and manager, when you go out on the pitch you have to work with the ones you have.

“There might be injuries, suspensions, you can’t think ‘What if he comes?’ or ‘What if he’s sold?’ you’ve got to work with the ones you have and what the reality is.

“I’ve never been thinking like, ‘Well I’ll play him but [another player] is coming in.’

“So everyone that has been part of pre-season is going to have a big part to play. And most of them have impressed.”
